Ninemsn Real Living visits Greenhouse by Joost, thanks for the kind words.

John, our Deputy Editor, and I went to the launch of Greenhouse by Joost, next to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay. You should definitely check it out. It’s part installation, part cafe and bar, and totally fascinating! The creator, Joost Bakker, shows how a building can be sustainable and nearly waste-free.

The walls are made using straw bales set into a steel framework that can be recycled, and all the fittings and furniture are made from recycled and sustainable materials. The walls and rooftop (which is a bar with stunning views of the harbour) are covered in planters.

The best part: the wine glasses were recycled jam jars. It’s all so inspiring you’ll want to race home and create unique homewares out of stuff you have lying around – an event not to be missed.
